Lagos or Accra, Ghana? Where would you rather live and why?

What are the advantages and disadvantages of both? I am a white guy, and I like living in modern developed cities, with a variety of things to see and do. Health clubs, gyms, interesting streets, night clubs for weekends, intelligent, friendly women.

Please let me know. Thank you in advance.

Lagos is EXTREMELY dangerous and unsafe. I would definitely go to Accra. Ghana is a stable African nation, so it's much safer for people to go to Ghana. Nigeria is very unstable, and it remains corrupt, despite efforts to end corruption. I would say that safety is enough of an advantage to choose Accra over Lagos. If Nigeria ever becomes stable, then it would be a wonderful place to go. Nigeria has a VERY rich culture and a lot of great places to travel...

(I have known a few people who have gone to Lagos who are not from Nigeria, and they all say that it's a scary place to be. The buildings are also very old and unsafe. Avoid Lagos for now.)

Accra absolutely! Lived there for six months and Ghanaian people are some of the nicest people in the world. A city like London is ten times more dangerous. Only hell is scarier than Lagos!

I think your desire to experience diversity is admirable. I hope you have a broad background in being an expatriate. Modern and developed cities is some what relative. Lagos, Accra & Ghana are some what different than Dubai, London, New York, LA, Toronto,Tokyo etc. You are either very young and adventourous or young and uninformed.

Best of luck

Have lived in both places. You could be attacked in either place if you do not take precautions. The main thing is to keep a low profile-Flashy car, flashier life style, lot of night outs, playing loud music etc could attract the "bad" guys. But, Accra would definitely score - friendly and warm people, safer place and the security threat will not be ont op of your mind when on the road and otherwise.
